(1) CAVEAT
this page is not about republicans. with extremely rare exceptions, all politicians are nuts. this page, as with the whole web site, is about insanity. in every past era madness has taken a slightly different form. the facts presented here are simply the BEST EXAMPLES OF MODERN INSANITY on turtle island. the ULTIMATE responsibility lies with the INDIVIDUAL. these PSYCHOS exist because the common person is undeveloped.

(2) A SAMPLE
the quotes immediately above are both from simon’s “A Time For Truth”, described below. doesn’t he sound like a nice man ?

first of all, the title is in the style of the purest simplistic, saccharine hucksterism, which wouldn’t receive a passing grade in high school freshman english. it proceeds to praise and preface along the same cheap emotional lines:

throughout, he uses worst case examples out of context, specious reasoning and onerous comparisons, going so far as to compare

DIRECTLY
the united states legislature to the repressive soviet regime.

throughout, he claims to take the side of small business, yet his main point is
the total elimination of government regulation.

(3) AN INSIDER TURNS LOUSY TURNCOAT
this page is a schematic reworking of the book “The Republican Noise Machine” by david brock. he has become famous for his book “Blinded By the Right,” in which he denounces his central role as organizer of an intense and successful mud slinging campaign against anita hill, who had accused supreme court nominee clarence thomas of sexual improprieties, saying that he had been hired by the republican machine for a
conscious strategy of
outright lies
and
witness intimidation.

if anything here seems doubtful, his books are heavy with references. it involved an incredible amount of research to trace the equally incredible number of propagandists. the veracity of his opinion on thomas is greatly strengthened by the intelligence displayed in this book.

(4) THE WHOLE POINT – IT’S TIME FOR THESE PEOPLE TO GO
the shear number of fake “institutes” and foul mouthed ranters is in itself mind numbing. the subject matter is tedious, convoluted and, most important, totally mean spirited, which leads one to ask: WHY DON’T THESE PEOPLE GET A LIFE? but then, maybe that’s the WHOLE POINT. being white and being rich is their only purpose in life, which isn’t too darn deep. we apologize that this page is so long, but there’s a lot of these sick goofballs and their dishonesty is a major aspect of society.

(6) IN THE OLD DAYS
 nineteenth century newspapers were fairly small and relied almost totally on subscribers for their support and most had an obvious political bias, though in a broad field of like publications. the twentieth century brought large chains of papers and a reliance on advertising money. still, however, the broader reader base brought a desire for accurate reporting, as different from polemics, which directly fostered the establishment of academic schools of journalism, heretofore non-existent, which promoted journalism as a profession, i.e., a body that required participants to pass examinations and thereafter uphold standards of scholarship and practice. at this time there were federal regulations against monopolies in printed matter.

(7) LONE VOICES OF THE FAR RIGHT
the modern state of affairs has its roots in what was called the republican Southern Strategy – which was a not very subtle appeal for the votes of segregationists. the main proponent of this was barry goldwater, whose political career nose dived as his views became more widely known. he was against civil rights in the time when the whole nation was turning in their favor, and would not credential black delegates to his caucuses, who in fact were often spit upon. his foreign policy was based solely on military aggressiveness, and he even promoted the use of atomic weapons. he had a complete disdain for the United Nations just as it was beginning to prove its worth at reducing strife and poverty. he thought Social Security, the most successful anti-poverty program ever on the planet, originally intended for the aged, should be “voluntary”. he was for the disbanding of the Supreme Court, part of the american constitution, as
 
“not necessarily the law of the land.”

the average citizen was appalled that these views could arise in a national campaign and republican strategists and newspapers dropped all support.

even conservative kansans think she's a nut case.
phyllis shlafly just hates everybody, but especially feminists, and remains active. see her recent quote, wherein we see that even ultra-conservative kansans think she’s a psycho. she retains the archetypal drawn expression and big stiff hair that went out of style more than half a century ago. this is non-trivial.

will buckley is possibly the most repulsive person
in the u.s. - spindly, anemic, arrogant, oblivious to
anyone not wealthy, and totally affected. in short
everything afro-folk mean by the word “honky.”
we’ll settle for “really icky.”
 
william buckley was educated at yale and used his family fortune, made in oil, to start the “National Review”, which was and remains a major journal of conservatism, boasting fairly high standards. a salient point however, is the original ancient greek definition of rhetoric:  to win an argument by any means possible, not necessarily using logic. anyone who has seen him in debate has witnessed how he will use logic if it suits him, and when it doesn’t the pleasure he takes in diversion, boondoggling, and browbeating his carefully selected opponents, who innocently fall for this, all delivered with an implacable high brow sneer. however, before he learned enough subtlety, in his early career he wrote several articles endorsing segregation, and in a 1959 article he endorsed disenfranchisement (denying of the right to vote) on the basis of lack of education and cultural backwardness. in other words, anyone not privileged. after graduating from yale he wrote a book on his experiences there, in which he said academic freedom was a superstition and that trustees should be elected who would fire atheists and socialists. he was a staunch defender of joseph mccarthy (see the top of “propaganda – part one”). mccarthy led a rabid witch hunt for comunists based on TOTAL LIES and FEAR that destroyed thousands of lives. buckley's favorite pastime is yachting, the sport of the common man.
 
edith efron, a failed academic, in the 1970s advocated private ownership of television networks because she believed that reporting in all media should not be objective but was an extension of politics. her book, “the news twisters” was laughed at as diatribe totally absent of method, and would have died a quick death if President Richard Nixon had not
 
ordered
massive purchases
in order to
falsely place it on ‘best sellers’ lists.
she is not just any nutcase, but laid the groundwork for much of what “neo-conservatives” somehow take seriously.
 
supreme court justice lewis f. powel wrote a memorandum on august 31 ’71 printed in the “Washington Report” saying business needed to “launch a counter attack” and “conduct guerrilla war” by underwriting a “movement” by heavily subsidizing, read “buying”, scholars, writers and thinkers housed in new “national organizations” “undertaken long term with generous financial support.” this memorandum

remained secret to those outside the business world

until revealed by columnist jack anderson in a piece about bias and powell’s fitness for the supreme court.

william e. simon became one of the nation’s wealthiest men though junk bonds and hostile takeovers, and became President Nixon’s Treasury Secretary, and sat on the board of a “philanthropy” based on munitions and chemical manufacturing. he was essentially a copy of barry goldwater but was not vulnerable because he was not an elected official. in 1978 he wrote “A Time For Truth,” saying that “business is the target of consumers, environmentalists and minorities”, which required a “blueprint for a counter-intelligentsia,” with no “soft-minded pleas for support of ‘dissent’.” this directly promoted industry fights against environmentalists, civil rights and social security.

irving kristol, also active in the seventies, was a member of the “American Enterprise Institute”, and was an admirer of Leon Trotsky, an early era communist whose militarism and disdain even for social stability led to his fleeing the soviet union and eventual assassination. he accused the media of being

“pro-integrationist.”

not a creative writer, he nevertheless crystallized the conservative AGENDA of a preference for
    propaganda over vote getting.

he worked tirelessly following the SOVIET MODEL of overwhelming propaganda, producing writings, journals, magazines and public letters, and was a major force in fund raising.

(8) “THINK TANKS” AS “FLAT EARTH” SOCIETIES
 these pseudo-academic organizations bestow on their often incredibly unqualified personnel august titles such as Associate, Fellow, Adjunct Fellow and Senior Fellow, titles which have absolutely no meaning.

almost totally, these groups are forced to print their own papers and books because no respectable or academic publisher would touch them. more recently, because of the growth of the movement, they have both formed their own publishing houses and wormed their way, if only slightly, into established companies, many of the owners of which are conservative but fear market reaction to extremist tracts.

1 BILLION dollars
had been spent on the top twenty organizations, while some

had sprouted up in the last thirty years. because these purely political organizations, with clear cut if informal associations, present themselves as “educational” they can claim all contributions are tax deductible.

PROPOGANDA  INSTEAD OF ON PEOPLE.

in 1997 mainstream media cited conservative “thinks tanks” 3,316 times, yet cited progressive organizations only 1,186 times. is this a liberal bias?

one such, “Accuracy in Media”, was started by reed irvine, who had been a member of “The United States Council On World Freedom”, which was composed of

former military and intelligence officers, latin american death squad assassins, fascist and nazi terrorists, wars criminals, and Moonies.

this organization has previously been investigated by the federal government. irvine personally attacked newsman walter cronkite who, as we say elsewhere, is one of the nicest guys around, as a “recruited” communist agent, the New York Times for merely quoting castro’s “disinformation”, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for underwriting a documentary on the life of nelson mandela, who he called
   “a glorification of an african terrorist.”

he insisted that the media in general hyped “chicken little science scares” and he advocated the use of nuclear weapons in iraq. his best line is that the vietnam war was lost because of the american media. he just absolutely knows its impossible that america was out fought.

james l. tyson advocated that vietnam protesters should be tried for treason, and keeping an eye on reporters who failed to include “anti-communist truths” in their writings, and that

   monitors should be placed in television networks to oversee editorial policy.

the “Media Research Center” was established by l. brent boswell III, which would have a budget six times greater than A.I.M.’s one million dollars. his father had been a speech writer for both senator joseph mccarthy and senator barry goldwater. under this organization, a truly weird committee was formed to give out puerile, bitingly sarcastic awards to their most hated liberals. on this committee, among others, were:
1.    convicted watergate conspirator g. gordon liddy
2.   iran-contra convicted felon oliver north
3.   marvin olasky, who advocated that journalists should “follow the bible.”

abraham kalish and bernard yoh play a large part in advising these groups. they worked in
MILITARY PROPOGANDA
 during the vietnam war.

money comes from the Olin and Coors foundations, the Koch foundation, founded by a charter member of the OPENLY RACIST John Birch Society, the Bradley foundation - also Birchers, Richard Mellon Scaife, a goldwater and nixon supporter, and the Smith Richardson foundation. matching funds come from the HUGE corporations Amaco, Alcoa, the SM foundation, Rockwell International, and Ford.

 these psuedo-think tanks had had their roots in the anti-labor and anti-civil rights organizations of the 1940s and 50s, chief among which is that which evolved into the “American Enterprise Institute.” it was remodeled in the 1960s by william j. baroody and a key barry goldwater staffer.

in 1972, after reading powell’s memo, brewer joe coors, blatant union buster and OPPONENT OF MINORITY HIRING, donated 200,000 dollars to what would become the “Heritage Foundation”, which remains the right’s premier think tank, whose central view, in line with their origins in big business, could be called

“politics as product.” 

in 1984 william coors, also a board member, told a meeting of african american businessmen:
“one of the best things the [slave traders] did for you is to drag your ancestors over here in chains.”

baroody formed ties in washington, d.c. with paul weyrich and george f. will, who formed the Conservative Lunch Club. weyrich had a long career as a self described “polical mechanic” interested exclusively in power and not policy, and had ties to george wallace, the OPENLY RACIST holdout governor of alabama, the john birch society, and the ANTI-SEMITIC Liberty Lobby, and christian psycho rousa john rushdoony, who taught that

“biblical law” allowed segregation and slavery
and required the death penalty for homosexuals.

weyrich hired convicted nazi collaborator laszlo pastor as a staff organizer. the Heritage Foundation hired as chief strategist stuart butler, who called for “leninist” strategies to

      dismantle the federal government.

weyrich left to organize advocacy groups and PACs - political action groups – legally established fund raisers with direct ties to washington. the “Heritage Foundation” provided the blueprint for president reagan’s “mandate for leadership.” reagan had begun his political career by endorsing goldwater.

2.    interior secretary – james watt, an elmer fud religious psycho who thought that  since the
second coming of christ was upon us
that it was all right to
use up the world's resources.

(9) THE “NEW SPEAK” OF THE OLD GUARD
 after the communist model, the plan is to


consolidate all media, and destroy all non-commercial media.

    speak loudly and incessantly.


they provide a stream of phony information, emotionalism, offensiveness, misleading presentation, and data, falsecommentary instead of news, totally without the professional rules of journalism, character assassination instead of analysis, which is a deliberate attempt to lower the level of intelligence of public dialog, to shift debate away from rationality, to obscure and deny, and

above all else to

DESTROY THE TRADITION OF FACT- FINDING.

(10) TALK ABOUT EATING YOUR OWN YOUNG
grover norquist, protégé of newt gingrich, orchestrated the

removal of grass roots moderates from republican organizations.

this is a central part of the strategy,
openly planned and well documented.

he has said:

“our goal is to cut government in half, [to] get it down
 to the size where we can
drown it in the bathtub.
OUR GOAL IS TO INFLICT PAIN.
it is like when the king would take his opponent’s
head and spike it on a pole

FOR EVERYONE TO SEE.”

norquist also, in the “National Journal” in 2001, pointed to a profile of communist propaganda written by the FBI, “Masters of Deceit”,
as an inspiration.
“communism has something for everybody. and following this principle, it is the function of mass agitation to exploit all grievances, hopes, aspirations, prejudices, fears, and ideals of the special groups that make up our society…stir them up. set one against the other. divide and conquer.
THAT’S THE WAY TO SOFTEN UP DEMOCRACY.”

(11) A SUMMARY OF TRADITIONAL VALUES

1.    THERE IS NO “SYSTEM” OR PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECT REPRESSING MINORITES, BUT, MAYBE RACISM IS GOOD.                                                     

2.    WOMEN SHOULD BE TREATED AS THEY WERE IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY. ANYTHING ELSE EMMASCULATES MEN AND DESTROYS THE FAMILY. WOMEN SHOULD NOT BE IN THE WORK FORCE, SPORTS OR THE MILITARY.

3.    CONSUMMERS, WORKERS AND ENVIRONMEMTALISTS ARE “CHICKEN LITTLES” WHO USE “JUNK SCIENCE” TO UNFAIRLY REGULATE BUSINESS.

4.    GOD GAVES US CAPITALISM AS THE BEST SOCIAL SYSTEM IN HISTORY. ANY REGULATION AT ALL IS OBSCENE.

5.    THE POOR ARE JUST STUPID AND ARE MEANT TO WORK FOR THOSE WHO ACCUMULATE MASSIVE WEALTH. IF THEIR CHILDREN CRY BECAUSE THEY ARE HUNGRY AND CAN’T GET A DECENT EDUCATION OR HEALTH CARE THEN THAT’S THEIR OWN FAULT.

6.    WAR IS GOOD. WE CAN’T SAY IT ENOUGH. WAR IS GOOD, GOOD, GOOD. THERE IS NO CONTRADICTION BETWEEN CHRISTIANITY AND WAR. OUR VALUES SHOULD BE IMPOSED ON THE WORLD. THE SLAUGHTER OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS IS MEANINGLESS COMPARED TO PROFIT. ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS PERVERTED, SPINELESS, UNPATRIOTIC, AND A COMMUNIST.   (OH NUTS, THE COMMUNISTS ARE GONE).

7.    WE DON’T NEED LOGIC OR REASON TO PROVE THESE POINTS, THEY ARE SELF-EVIDENT.

8.    THE BEST METHOD TO GET OUR WAY IS TO:

•    DESTROY THE FIRST AMENDMENT.
•    DESTROY THE TRADITION OF STRICT FACT FINDING IN REPORTING.
•    ESTABLISH MASSIVE PROPGANDA MACHINES.
•    NO MATTER HOW FAIR THE OPPOSITION IS, ALWAYS INSIST ON MORE “BALANCE.”
•    ESTABLISH AN ENTIRE CULTURE OF DISTORTION AND HATE MONGERING.

(12) FREE MARKETERS ON WELFARE
now we are getting to the modern ideologues, the great majority of whom are supported by the industry slush funds behind the new organizations. some work for or directly within the government.
 
none have EVER done a real day’s work.

chares murray proposed dismantling the entire welfare system, but again with horrible scholarship. he influenced president reagan and caused a bipartisan congress to consider reform. in 1994 he wrote “The Bell Curve: Intelligence and Class Structure in American Life” with richard herrnstein, in which he proposed that blacks were genetically inferior to whites.
he had burned a cross in high school.
 
after the book was published he was booted from the Manhattan Institute and joined the American Enterprise Institute, where he remains.

abigail thernstrom, another failed academic, and unable to win tenure, wrote “Black and White in America”, an attack on affirmative action, with distortions of evidence exposed by more than one reviewer,

including her conservative colleagues.

peter huber’s “galileo’s revenge: junk science in the courtroom,” introduced the term “junk science”, but was filled with exaggeration and trickery. kenneth chesboro wrote in the “American University Law Review” that
 
“galileo would attribute the prominence of the book and its
author to clever public relations, not merit, and would
denigrate it as junk scholarship, not “junk science”.”

myron magnet wrote “The Dream and the Nightmare: the Sixties Legacy To the Underclass”, in which he said either unwed mothers should live in supervised group homes or surrender their children to state run orphanages. amazingly,

he apparently had no conception that
some people might object to the term
“underclass.”

robert bothwell said

“success results less from who is doing the right thing,
and more from whose view of reality dominates the battle field… to dictate issues and terms of national debates.”

president bush has said his book to him is

second only to the bible.

that’s pretty sick – no shakespeare in his house,  no “goodnight moon” or “snowy day” or "velveteen rabbit” or “the little prince,” no hawthorn, dickens, plato, menken, basho, woolf, dylan thomas, or gee, a whole bunch of stuff.

the student newspaper the ”Dartmouth Review” was founded by irving kristol and william simon, which makes no secret of being racist, sexist and homophobic.

(13) START YOUR OWN BIASED SCHOOLS

non-academic “schools of journalism”
unassociated with any accredited university
were formed for those unwilling to have their biases peer reviewed. among them are:

the “Intercollegiate Studies Institute's Collegiate Network”,
the “Leadership Institute”,
the “National Journalism Center,”
and the “Young America’s Foundation”,

 which last by itself has put
 
900 people

 into mainstream media positions.

there were many of these older papers, and what has evolved in modern times, while being no more sophisticated in style, is a web of mailing lists with bulletins going one way and money the other, but now on a national level. although much of the world has changed, those scandal sheets that survive still harbor attitudes and use language that most people today would find

CNN came out with the COMBATIVE debate show “crossfire,” based purely on chauvinism and xenophobia,
where shouting and interruptions were COMMON,
and where
 sound bites, sloganeering, caricature and demagoguery
were also common.
 – MORE LIKE A HOCKEY RINK THAN A DEBATE, and which featured views that

would have been beyond the pale just a decade earlier.

 former nixon aid pat buchanan best represented this style, who said
hitler was “an individual of great courage,”
who endorsed "former" klu klux klan head david duke,
claimed AIDS was divine retribution,
and said that
“the real liberators of women
were the shopping center,
the dish washer, and the washer-dryer.”

among the guests on “crossfire” was a
 klansman
in his robes.

one of “crossfire’s” first interview shows was HOSTED by robert novak, who said
his Outrage of the Week was television coverage of
“the homeless, the poor, and drug addicts
slobbering over their thanksgiving turkey
and ruining my thanksgiving.”

on lou dobbs’ show the watergate felon gordon liddy said

of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms,
“KILL THE SONS OF BITCHES,”
and revealed he had a
“SECRET PLAN TO KILL COLUMNIST JACK ANDERSON.”

this is
“news”?

after rupert murdoch started FOX NEWS CHANNEL, in 1995 john c. malone, who owned TCI, the largest cable system of the time, purchased two thirds of Mcneal/Lehrer Productions, the producer of PBS’s "Newshour with Jim Lehrer", at the time one of the finest shows on television. he also owned large interest in the Discovery Channel, Court TV and Time Warner, which owned and CNNTime. he brought in Pat Robertson’s Family Channel and killed the liberal 90s Channel and RNW.

FOX was the first ENTIRE CHANNEL to have an
OBVIOUS BIAS.
and the Family Channel pandered to
very low brow religion.

roger ailes was one more uneducated, resentful slob who kicked around politics and television, and even became PART OF THE BUSH WHITE HOUSE, but was later frozen out. in 1991 he became PRESIDENT of CNBC. with no talent of his own, he was nevertheless an excellent businessman and tripled the company’s ratings and income. many of the shows he fostered fell completely flat. his paranoia, which had made him soul mates with nixon, led to pointless power struggles that lost him his job. a few weeks later he was hired by rupert murdoch to head FOX. now there was an entire channel for what had previously been present only in segments and shows.

FOX also owned a broadcast network and stations, which brought federal anti-bias laws into play. roger ailes, after years of right wing work and public statements of his intentions for FOX , invented the now famous, perverted expression

“FAIR AND BALANCED”
as part of their corresponding
legal
marketing initiative.

he assembled a senior management staff that had
NO NATIONAL NEWS EXPERIENCE.

disgruntled staff told of

going so far as to
dictate entire segments.

about [civilian iraqi casualties,]
and suggested
they could tell it to the families of american soldiers dying there.”

one eager young producer
“killed a correspondent’s report…
because it showed CHILDREN in an iraqi hospital.”

matt gross said of one editor,

“his FIRST directive to us:

seek out stories that

cater to angry middle aged white
men who listen to talk radio
and yell at their television sets…

what followed was a dumbing down… it was that the facts of the story
just didn’t matter at all.”

FOX ran a story on property owners who feel threatened by an environmental agreement “signed by president clinton in 1992.”
the agreement was signed by bush sr.,
who was president in ’92,

yet they showed footage of clinton signing a document.

this is called
lying.

CNN hired as commentators barry goldwater, phyllis shlafly, robert novak, roland evans and william simon, none of whom were traditional conservatives.
 
to be fair, there was also ralph nadar and bella abzug, of a centrist or liberal slant. this 5 to 2 ratio of crackpots to liberals was only the beginning of their influence.

 condemning cultural diversity, shlafly asserted
“many years ago christian pioneers had to fight
 savage indians,”

while
condemning a social studies curriculum
for failing to include the views of
nazis and the klu klux klan.

 this new brand of show panders shamelessly to the type of person who would enjoy the gladiators in the coliseum or take their knitting to the guillotine. the only way you could be dumber is if you were unable to feed and clean yourself. absolutely the only aim of this type of show is the
destruction of
ANY RESPECT
for
human character.

bill o’reilly
is one more uneducated hate ranter who’s wormed his way to the top of the media machine. he described his catholic childhood as “putting me in a closet and putting me in the dumb row” and that his father’s child rearing practices “would have won praise from mussolini,” that there were no “time outs” but plenty of “knockouts.”

why take it out on us, billy boy?

he thinks his suits and the cosmetics covering his awful complexion, and his airbrushed book photos, make him look respectable and suave, and he bills himself as mr. objective – his show is called “the no spin zone” – but he can’t hide his slouch and total lack of a vocabulary. he’s famous for telling guests and callers,
 
“OH, SHUT UP !!” or simply cutting them off,
 and the show consists mostly of him
mumbling on and on in a conspiratorial can-you-believe-this tone.
 
the veneer is pretty thin, since he reserves his famous screaming fits for off-camera or after the show. his guests are very carefully picked, and if they don’t deliver fuming outrage he simply chops the segment. richard jewel, the security guard at the 1996 olympic bombings, who saved hundreds of lives at risk to his own by clearing the area after seeing suspicious activity, and who was subsequently framed by a sensational police/media conspiracy, implacably refused to hold a grudge or assign blame, even after o’reilly repeatedly asked

“aren’t you angry?”, “aren’t you angry?”

essentially he was THROWN OFF THE SHOW, even though his story was both genuine and full of circumstances that would lend themselves to social insight. o'reilly has written a book of advice to youth – being totally unaware of the great GREAT SOCIAL CHANGES since his own very unhappy childhood. the kids don’t need his LAUGHABLE simplistic homilies – they want
 
REAL CULTURE and NOT TO BE HARASSED by UGLY, RANTING ADULTS.

just one more person with no respect for facts, after having a dippy pro-lifer on his show, he said

“when was the last time you saw pro-life people [on other networks]?

the National Right to Life Committee has
appeared on CNN 21 times,
a circumstance hard to miss by anyone with even just one eye open.

when al franken exposed o’reilly’s reams of lies with careful analysis, o’rielly said
he could have “put a bullet” into franken’s head.

 hand picked rowdy audience

he would book strippers, prostitutes and pornographers
and portray them as “LIBERALS.”

“SHUT UP, YOU HAG,” he told one elderly woman,

to wild cheering.

 he once slapped a gay activist, which of course got him a lawsuit.
 he urges his audiences on to greater frenzy with the words “let’s kick ass.”

he told a female VICTIM OF CHILD ABUSE,
“TOO DAMN BAD. I’ve known women who were absolute total bitches. if I were married to you, honey, I’d drop kick you out the door.”

he had a privileged upbringing, but even while playing to the lower classes wants people to know he was friends with the kennedys, supposedly his arch enemies. he got a ph.d from a “boiler room university” and a mail order law degree. he was fired from a string of radio jobs. he once struck an abortion rights supporter and went on a tirade against a chinese american, and sometimes read ON AIR from a magazine by lyndon larouche, a man who thinks there’s a conspiracy between the queen of england and flying saucers, and who has done jail time for large amounts in credit card theft from his own supporters. downy, though proclaiming himself “conservative,” lacks the polish of even the usual pork barrel republicans. while his show lasted only a year and a half, he had almost two million viewers, almost all of which were young to middle aged males not living in any major cities. a former producer for the show said,

“only a few days [after I started working] I heard him
MAKE SOMETHING UP.
you eventually
STOPPED HEARING FABRICATIONS,
the way you get used to a lisp or an accent.”

john mclaughlin’s show, “the mclaughlin group,” went further, but in a different direction, making conservatives look not DEADLY BORING and SCARY, but entertaining, by simply presenting a show with ABSOLUTELY NO CONTENT, while having no moderate republicans, but only guests that were exclusively from the far right.

cris mathews is their in-house schizophrenic democrat, who resents intellectuals, calling them

and has been said to tailor his shows segment by segment according to ratings. he said “men don’t like clinton… [because] men are basically loyal to their wives.” he has also said of the

“he has no record of any interest in life.”

during president bush’s FAKED LANDING on the aircraft carrier uss abraham lincoln, he said on the air,
“the flight suite makes the best of his MANLY CHARACTERISTICS.
he just won every woman’s vote in the US.

even the simplest facts get no shrift from mathews. when an author claimed ann coulter had appeared eight times on a show to promote her book, he denied she had ever been present. his ratings plummeted when he no longer had clinton to rail against.

michael savage is the funniest of the lot. he wrote a book that was found to be, not just a little, but
 ALMOST ENTIRELY PLAGERISM.
he has won sophisticated audiences across the nation with such utterances as
“america is well on it’s way from being a melting pot to a chamber pot.”
and

    “our most important and consequential inventions have come almost exclusively from white males.”

he loves to bash any elite or special group, yet is a san francisco jew born of immigrant parents.
he calls san francisco homeless people “living rats,” single career women over forty are “human wreckage in high heels,” asians are “little soy eaters,” and chinese are “little devils.” he once celebrated yom kippur by playing tapes of hitler’s speeches to german military music.

he said gay activists should get AIDS, called the Million Mom March the “Million Dyke March,” and has dubbed supreme court justices sandra day o’conner, ruth ginsberg, along with hilary clinton, a “sheeocracy” that has feminized and homosexualized much of america.

he has also said “the gay and lesbian MAFIA wants your children” and wants to “homosexualize the whole country.”

he blames his inability to win tenure on affirmative action, saying, “they denied me my birthright.”

his polling practices have been found to be EXTREMELY UNETHICAL by outside agencies of long standing, not political opponents.

he was found in 1997, by the American Association for Public Opinion Research to
1.    use highly leading questions
2.    pare down unwanted numbers
3.    use outright lies
4.    refuse to share his data
5.    refuse to share his verification methods

 his explanation was,
 “it’s like being a lawyer.
you go with your strongest case.”

when a nevada television reporter asked why his statistics on doctors working in nevada were the exact opposite of other sources, he exploded,
  “that’s bullshit. I can’t believe you even asked me that question.”

he has also been found to use “FOCUS GROUPS,” a practice unheard of elsewhere, of extremely small numbers of hand picked people. these groups are too small to have ANY validity.

in 2002 he was censured by the Nation Council On Public Polls for
 
“mischaracterization on MSNBC of the results of focus groups he conducted during the republican convention.”

in other words he hand picked his respondents, then
LIED ANYWAY.

while appearing widely, billing himself as an expert, he was simultaneously being paid to write an entire book of
biasing words
for candidates to use.
 
after the democrats won control of congress, he wrote a memo to the Senate Republican Caucus, saying
   “it’s time to start using the phrase “Daschle democrats” and the word “obstructionist” in the same sentence.”
